Each year, the SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers – Italian Section), the EAGE (European Association of Geoscientists & Engineers) and Assomineraria (Italian Petroleum and Mining Industry Association – Hydrocarbon and Geothermal Resources Sector) present the Gustavo Sclocchi Award External link. This award is given to recent graduates from Italian universities and Italian nationals that have graduated abroad who have achieved great results with dissertations and doctoral degrees in petroleum engineering, geosciences, or other disciplines related to the Oil & Gas industry.

We have recently learned that Geomechanica’s Dr. Andrea Lisjak Bradley has been selected as one of the recipients of the award for 2014 for his thesis entitled: “Investigating the Influence of Mechanical Anisotropy on the Fracturing Behaviour of Brittle Clay Shales with Application to Deep Geological Repositories” which can be downloaded here External link. Dr. Lisjak will travel to Milan, Italy to receive his award and give a presentation on his PhD research at the awards ceremony hosted at the headquarters of ENI External link on December 11th, 2014.
